Arizona Compost Pile

WOULD YA LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL DIRT!
We never thought the feeling would still be the same every time as the beautiful sweet smell of compost brings joy to the heart!

Today is the day we turn the compost pile over. We do this every other week, usually on weekends. It only takes about 15 minutes to turn. We do this to ensure oxygen to the compost pile. During the summer, we water our compost twice a day to keep up with the Arizona heat. In the cooler months, we only need to water about every other day.

When we first ordered our compost, we bought only 10 Cubic Yards online. A week later, a dump truck arrived with close to 27 cubic yards of compost! What a deal!

We quickly realized why they gave us so much; it was 90% brown material! Thankfully we were up for the challenge. Over the last 6 months, we have been loving this compost pile with water, turning, and our kitchen or garden scraps.

♻️ What goes in? Anything veggie or fruit! Cardboard without ink. Paper towels that weren’t used with cleaning products. Recently, we have been thinking about supplementing our kitchen scraps with our local Jamba Juice left-overs!
⛔ All of our meat scraps go to the Pupperino, Leo, and not in our compost.

Question: Do you compost? We’d love to know and learn from others!!
